Hello fellow artists,
This is not your typical show opportunity. Flux Factory is hosting "Down the Street and Around the Corner," a collection of public work located in Western Queens (Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, etc). We are in the process of "finding" works in our neighborhood that smartly or cleverly alter/activate public spaces in various ways. The show itself will take place September 23-October 21. the art is in the streets but the show will include audio tours, walking and bike tours, maps, blogs, etc etc. The Flux gallery will be the headquarters with documentation and information. All mediums and processes encouraged.
All artists interested in being a part of the show officially (press, maps, website), please contact us by Sept 12. You need not live in Queens. I know it's hot and the summer is dwindling fast, but this is a great opportunity that does not have to be a time consuming endeavor. It can be as involved or simple as you'd like.
Also, we are officially collaborating with the Wooster Collective, who rule (woostercollective.com).
PLUS, we found out about this new collective called the Queens Blackout Division (queensblackoutdivision.net) who do public work of all sorts in Queens. They are looking for contributors.
So we at Flux are hoping some of you will check out our neighborhood's work, become a part of the magic yourself, perhaps join Queens Blackout Division, and engage in Flux Factory's "Down the Street and Around the Corner." It's not so complicated as it sounds. Do something in Western Queens and let us know about it by Sept. 12. to be a part of the hype.
If you have any q's or would like to get involved, please e-mail info@fluxfactory.org.
thanks kerry
