DOUBLE TAKE

An Exhibition of Double Self-Portraits Entry Deadline: November 19, 2004 Exhibition: December 5, 2004-February 27, 2005 Many of us feel that the world sees us differently than we see ourselves. As part of its autumn-winter 2004-2005 series of exhibitions focusing on issues related to SELF-IMAGE, JMKAC invites you to create two self-portraits in one work of art.

With DOUBLE TAKE, the Arts Center broadens the concept of open partici-pation to "Exhibitions With-out Borders." Established and emerging artists and other adults and children from anywhere in the world may participate. In other words, there are no residence requirements and no age restrictions. JMKAC believes further broadening the participation base will create an even livelier visual dialogue among diverse makers, thus enriching the impact artists and public have on each other.

Your self-portraits may be two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional. You may use any media, including, among others, paint, pencil, clay, photography, metal, wood, textiles, and found objects. Please note: Your self-portraits do not necessarily have to depict your face or even your body. There is NO entry fee to participate in this exhibition. Each participant may submit only one double self-portrait. It is hoped that all works can be included in the exhibition, but final selections will be at the discretion of the Arts Center staff. Your work of art must be comprised of two self-portraits. You can include both portraits in a single piece, or you can create two separate components with one self-portrait on each. The entire piece (two self-portraits) may be no larger than 12" x 12" x 12".

For the complete guidelines, click here or call the Arts Center for a brochure.

Here is your chance to create two self-portraits that tell the story of who you are! Self-portrait one: How do others see or perceive you? Self-portrait two: How do you see yourself? What are you really like?
